Funding

CARE HOMES

There are several different ways in which care can be funded depending on your financial position.

This web site provides some basic information, as a guide, demonstrating how care can be funded, however you may wish to seek the advice of an independent financial advisor before making any decisions.

It is important to remember to contact Social Services prior to admission to a care home, so that a financial assessment can be carried out, and you are fully aware of any entitlements, for instance a person with an acute care need may be entitled to Continued Care Benefit, which is total funding, even if you are self funding.

Domiciliary Care

As with care provided in a home it is important to contact Social Services prior to arranging domiciliary or home care as they have a statutory obligation to carry out a needs and financial assessment.

Once it has been decided that you need domiciliary care, Social Services will contact you to complete a financial assessment. You will need to provide information about your assets, income, and outgoings. Based on this information they will decide whether you will be self funding, or state funded.

Your care package may have already started before the financial assessment has been carried out, however you will not be charged until it has been completed.
