Self Funding

CARE HOMES

If you have more than £23,250 in savings or a high weekly income then you will not be entitled to any state funding towards your care, and you will be classed as Self Funding, in other words you will pay the full cost of your care.

If your savings are likely to drop below this level in the near future, then it is wise to request an assessment from Social Services to ensure they will assist to fund your place, when you need it.

However this does not mean you are not entitled to some benefits- such as Attendance Allowance which is not means tested and Pension credits.

If you have nursing needs you will be entitled to Free Nursing Care, which is the nursing element of your care and Free Continence Aids if needed.
